Employer Description

Cross Keys learning is an Independent school for children & young people who have Social, Emotional, Mental Health and ASD needs. They may not have had positive experiences in a mainstream school.

The school is registered to provide education for 10 children & young people using an alternative curriculum, implementing a range of strategies to engage, motivate and progress the students.

 

Vacancy Description

This is a great opportunity for somebody to join our school as an apprentice teaching assistant, and make a difference to peoples’ lives.

Your role will be classroom based, either in a KS3 or KS4 environment.

You will be expected to have good interpersonal and communication skills so that you are able to be a positive role model for our students, and work effectively with the class teachers and Senior Leadership Team.

We are looking for somebody with good IT, Literacy and Numeracy skills so that they can support our students with these skills in the classroom.

If you have a good sense of humour, patience and an ability to demonstrate flexibility, you are exactly the kind of person we would like to join our team.

This is a varied role and the tasks will include – but are not limited to – the following:

– General teaching assistant duties.

-Demonstrating the skills required to complete the TA qualification

-Liaising with the class teacher to prepare resources

-Liaising with the class teacher to create displays

– Completing reports

– Implementing – and following – safeguarding processes.

– Being responsible for their own CPD and participating in school CPD opportunities

– Contributing to weekly staff meetings

– Supporting teachers to complete daily logs and in-session registers.

 

Wage

£140 per week

 

Hours

Times: 9am – 16:30

35 hours a week

30 mins lunch break.

Due to the requirements of the role, the successful candidate should be aged 18 or above.  An offer of employment will be subject to DBS clearance.

 

Qualifications Required

English: GCSE grade C / 4 or equivalent
Maths: GCSE grade D/3 or equivalent
ICT: GCSE grade D/3 or equivalent

 

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

 

Important Information
