This post reports to managers in several teams across the organisation.

As Apprentice Charity Officer, you will play a key role in supporting Mind’s ongoing vision: to ensure that everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.

You will be responsible for helping and supporting colleagues and teams in key areas of the business to deliver their projects, programmes, and campaigns which support our vision, and which are in line with Mind’s strategy, values and goals.

To support what we do you’ll sit within various teams across the organisation on a rotational basis, working closely with colleagues within Marketing and Communications, Organisation Development, Governance (including Strategy and Insight, Compliance, and Research and Evaluation), Policy and Campaigns, Fundraising, and the Information Team. You will support them in day-to-day tasks, ongoing projects, and evolving campaigns. Key responsibilities will include: 

  • helping to co-ordinate and deliver projects and campaigns
  • reviewing and analysing information and evidence in areas such as governance, marketing, and fundraising – with a view to improving outcomes and impact
  • working with and supporting colleagues/teams across the organisation to help deliver various projects and programmes  
  • collecting and accurately recording information to assist the effectiveness of projects 
  • communicating with supporters and campaigners to influence and maintain relations
  • producing and updating Mind information for use by the public, Government, and other stakeholders
  • analysing performance data from across the organisation to monitor our progress against strategic objectives
  • championing the highest levels of customer care and compliance throughout Mind
  • scoping, developing and helping to write relevant policy/campaigning documents
  • coordinating the administration of community fundraising supporters
  • despatching mailings and e-newsletters to members and supporters
  • seeking feedback and insight from colleagues across Mind with the aim of improving workplace wellbeing, practice, and culture.

The nature of the duties of this role may change and develop according to the needs of the organisation. This will require you to adopt a flexible and adaptable approach.

Expectations

  • Ensure that all responsibilities and activities within this post are consistent with the terms and spirit of Mind's policies
  • Adhere to relevant legal and statutory requirements including the Data Protection Act (ensuring an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times), Health and Safety at Work Act (ensuring H&S of own and others at all times) and any other relevant/charity law
  • Comply at all times with legal and industry guidelines (as directed), such as the Data Protection Act (GDPR), Fundraising Regulator (FR), Institute of Fundraising (IoF) codes of practice, data management, Gift Aid and all other requirements of an active fundraising charity
  • Provide support to colleagues
  • Maintain relevant systems and processes, for example the CRM system, internal reporting etc.
