This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to train as a web developer working as a part of the Tanist web development team. The successful candidate will need to have a good general understanding of ICT; be aware of modern web development technologies; be keen to learn and to progress towards a career in web development. The Tanist development team is responsible for supporting new customer development projects, existing customer's web site maintenance requests, developing Tanist's own product portfolio and web presence, managing all underlying technologies and our hosting service platform.

If accepted, Tanist would help train the successful candidate to become a full-time Web Developer. As an apprentice you will gain exposure to a range of technologies across both frontend and backend development and over the course of the apprenticeship will be helped to identify an area of development to specialise in.

Day to day responsibilities will include:
  • Helping the team enter content to web sites
  • Make changes and build new features and functionality on our existing customer company and product websites
  • Fixing assorted web site issues, learn how to troubleshoot technical problems, how to best prioritise your daily workload and to spend time working towards an industry standard software development qualification supported by a training organisation under continual assessment

Although you do not need experience or qualifications in software development, some basic level of web development exposure is a necessity to reflect your ongoing interest. We are looking for high-potential candidates with a demonstrable passion for technology and a burning desire to become a successful software developer. You will need to be eager and willing to learn new skills both in and out of work time, have the drive to take on new challenges and to make things happen.

Tanist will provide daily work that is aligned with the candidates abilities and with mentoring by senior developers to grow those abilities in line with the work of the team. A local training organisation will support the candidate from the application stage and then throughout the apprenticeship with regular assessment meetings. Tanist is able to offer employees a very welcoming office where you will be valued and we strive to create a relaxed and often fun atmosphere where you enjoy coming to work. The development team is friendly and sociable which helps create a pleasant working environment.
