On our Utilities Network Management programme you will join Severn Trent as a Apprentice Senior Network Technican. In this role you will be proactively focusing on the needs of our customers by delivering a right first time solutions and implementing initiatives aimed at improving the performance and serviceability of our sewerage network. We have big ambitions for our network, so you'll be part of projects from start to finish. For motivated Apprentices with ambitious goals and with the ability to solve problems, the scope for progression through these apprenticeships is something to get really excited about.

What you'll be doing

Our Apprentice Senior Network Technicians will be trained to to ensure the effective operation of the Sewerage Network within a given geographical area whilst delivering full compliance with all customer, regulatory and company standards. As a key part of this you'll be working in partnership with our contractors ensuring that any operational problems are dealt with effectively in compliance with the contracts and within a safe and cost effective environment. As you develop you will be taking ownership of any customer service issues within your area and building relationships with the Environment Agency (EA), local and Highway Authorities and other external bodies to facilitate the effective delivery of operational works whilst minimising the impact on our customers and the environment.

As a water business we operates 24/7, 365 days a year, so as you move towards the completion of this apprenticeship, the role may include working across different catchments or regions as required and be part of standby rotas.

Requirements and prospects Desired skills

We're looking for candidates who are self-motivated to learn (both on-the-job and at college), punctual, enthusiastic, and able to work in a team. A desire for creative and innovative problem-solving is also required. As well as great technical skills and a passion for engineering, we place emphasis on candidates having the right behaviours for our business. Personal qualities

Enthusiastic, highly motivated, able to prioritise effectively, willingness to learn and comfortable with working away from home for lengthy periods of time (placement rotations will likely be elsewhere in the region and accommodation will be provided by STW), a creative problem solver who enjoys working with computers/technology.

Qualifications required

Like most apprenticeships, we require at least five GCSEs or equivalent (at grade C or above), including Maths, English, and ideally a Science subject.

Future prospects To become a subject matter expert in our business; an engineer able to inspire others and able to provide an excellent level of service to benefit our customers. Opportunities exist for further academic development during and after the apprenticeship programme is completed to the required standard.

Things to consider The Apprentice schemes at Severn Trent require you to work across a range of our operational sites and key offices across the Severn Trent Water region as part of your rotation placements. Meetings and training courses are also held across the region, so willingness to be mobile and flexible with location is essential. Generally our Operations and Engineering Technician Apprentices are based in the following Midlands areas: •East (Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire/Warwickshire) •West (Staffordshire/Shropshire) •Central (Wolves/Coventry/Stourbridge/Worcestershire/Gloucestershire) As a regional water company we supply customers across the whole Severn Trent region, covering most of the East & West Midlands. With over 100 clean water and 1000 waste water treatment sites, as well as our office locations, we are unable to show every possible site available to our apprentices and we generally expect our apprentices to be flexible within the region. The sites listed are a representation of sites where we commonly place apprentices during part of their training, though we work very closely with each apprentice to make sure that their site based training is in a location as best suited to them as possible.
