SSE Engineering Craft Apprenticeship
SSE 2018 Engineering Craft Apprenticeship Opportunities
Salary: Circa £10,000 with a yearly increase and company benefits
Thinking about life after school or perhaps a change in career? Maybe you enjoy fixing things or prefer being outdoors and doing hands-on practical work? Or perhaps you are looking for an opportunity to learn a new skill?
Our Apprenticeship Programme offers you the chance to earn whilst you learn new skills and gain valuable work experience and qualifications. Trainees on our Apprenticeship Programme are provided with the opportunity to achieve a Modern Apprenticeship qualification and a City & Guilds Technical Certificate (or SVQ in Scotland). The programme can take up to 4 years to complete and is centred on work based learning and training linked directly to the job.
You will be supported throughout the programme by a mentor, our Apprentice Programme Manager, your SSE colleagues who you'll work with during your on the job training and also by the support you will receive from your college tutors. The majority of our apprentices attend college on a block release arrangement for several weeks at any one time; this will mean you may have to live away from home for short periods of time but we will support you fully, during this time.
By the end of the programme you'll have an accreditation that will offer you the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector. Sustainability underpins everything we do so we believe in making the most of our most valuable assets - our people - and supporting them to be their best. With a carefully designed development programme, you’ll have everything you need to progress your SSE career as far as you want to go.
You don't need any experience to apply. You just need to have an interest in the work we do at SSE, an appreciation of our core values, particularly safety and the desire to do well. To meet the college requirements you'll need a minimum of 3 GCSEs or National 4 and 5 level qualifications in Scotland. This must include Maths, English and a Science OR Engineering/ Technical subject.
Application closing date: 18th March 2018
Successful candidates will start in August 2018 and will be subject to our verification and vetting process which includes a qualification and basic criminal record check along with drug and alcohol testing.
