Who are we looking for?
As our ideal Higher Apprentice you will need to be enthusiastic, well organised, and self-motivated.
You will be have 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths at Grade c or above
2 x A Levels (Maths/Science) and/or a Certificate/Diploma in Engineering.
What might my programme entail?
The role of Higher Apprentice Mechanical Engineering will be reporting to the Area Manager and form part of the team covering Cement and Lime throughout the area
You will be able to obtain a full overview of the Cement and Lime business through a supportive development programme to learn to organise and manage the maintenance and mechanical inspections throughout the Depots in the South East. This will include learning to carry out the mechanical inspections of all fixed plant and equipment on the sites. Learning will include Executing with the necessary resources, work identified from the Inspections. This will lead to ensuring optimum equipment availability and performance. Assist in providing assistance support on a day-to-day basis on operational functions in designated facilities with respect to maintenance.
The successful candidate will learn what safety measures are to be applied and learn from fellow engineers, the techniques, practices and behaviours required with the ultimate aim to become a professional time served mechanical engineer.
Due to the working environment the candidate may be expected to work in dirty environments as well as potentially working in all weather conditions, at height and in confined spaces. There must also be an appreciation and awareness of high voltage equipment.
