Apprentices are some of the most underrepresented learners in the UK. Fact.
The National Society of Apprentices (NSoA) work tirelessly to get apprentice voices heard at a local, national and European level, breaking down the cultural misconception that the apprentice is the poor relative of the full-time student; the one that didn’t quite get the grades, or the one who couldn’t afford University.
The society represent over 200,000 apprentices UK-wide from across all sectors and industries focussing on areas that apprentices have directly raised that matter to them such as pay, quality apprenticeships, cost of living and travel.
The society’s campaign and influencing work has been instrumental in changing the political and social landscape for apprentices. Here’s a quick snapshot of their 2018 achievements:
“It's hard because I spend over £25 a week on traveling and I only get £86.40 a week. I never really have much money after buying basic things”
This invaluable work and free membership for colleges, training providers and employers is only possible due to funding from the NUS Apprentice extra card.
