Description of Vacancy

We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic full time Apprentice TA.

In this highly rewarding role, you will be working with children both on a 1:1 basis and in class, implementing learning and behaviour programs set by our qualified teachers and  supporting behaviour specialists.

You will ensure the daily needs of our pupils are met in a professional, competent, safe and fun school environment.

You will need to be creative, energetic and committed to engaging a pupils whilst monitoring their progress. You will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.

  • You position will cover a variety of supporting roles-
  • Support the aims and ethos of the school
  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils.
  • Assist in the implementation of Pastoral Support Programmes for pupils and help monitor their progress.
  • Provide support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom
  • Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, and occupational therapists, as necessary.
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Liaise with the class teacher to understand the objectives of each lesson.
  • Support pupils with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour patterns and raise self-esteem
  • Tend to the hygiene and physical needs of individual pupils and assist children to dress for PE etc.
  • Supervise in PE lessons where appropriate to ensure the safety of children.
  •  Participate and supervise pupils in off-site activities.
  • To assist and support the teacher in enhancing the learning environment.
  • Assist where necessary with preparation and clearing away of the classroom and materials to ensure effective learning.
  • Feedback to teachers and other colleagues, how pupils are progressing and discuss possible next steps.
  • To be seen as a positive role model by the pupils providing support at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
  • Attend Staff Development Days, team and staff meetings when appropriate.
  • Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Headteacher.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  • To supervise playtimes and detention duties when appropriate.
  • To be aware of school policies and procedures.

Wage

£4.81 per hour

Hours

Monday- Friday, hours may vary.

With a minimum of 30 hr week.

This will be term time only.

Qualifications Required

Minimum GCSE Grade 9 – 4 (or A – C) in English and Maths. Or equivalent qualifications in these subjects.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – Teaching Assistants work in Primary, Special and Secondary education across all age ranges encompassing special educational needs and emotional vulnerabilities. The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils’ learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
