Project Management is the integration of the outputs from other functions, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver attainable goals. It is a vital capability for BAE Systems. The Company's success is predicted by the basic requirement to deliver to its customers those products, services and capabilities they specify and expect, to time and budget.
About the scheme
The scheme is designed to provide a broad knowledge of project management through four month placements, over a three year period, across many different areas of the business. The Project Management Higher Apprentice scheme is designed to develop A-level qualified people to become the Project Management function of the future. Project Management Higher Apprentices work as a Project Engineer/Planner, moving round a wide area of the business on four month placements. They cover all the core elements of Project Management, including risk, project controls, planning and quality. Upon exit from the scheme Higher Apprentices will take up a role as either a Project Engineer or Planner.
What you’ll need
To apply for the Project Management HA Scheme, you’ll require a minimum of three A-levels (or equivalent) totalling 240 UCAS points (excluding points accrued from AS Level) including one or more of the following: mathematics, a business related subject, IT, engineering or a science related subject, excludes general studies.
All applicants will be expected to be medically fit as deemed necessary to perform the role, be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance. The focus of the Project Management HA Scheme is on the development of the individual. You will be fully funded by the company to study part time to achieve a relevant level 4 qualification in Project Management.
You’ll also have the opportunity to learn from colleagues who are experts in their field, and gain insights that can only come from experience in the workplace. You will also be expected to take part in ‘Stretch Assignments’ these are opportunities to be involved in a variety of charitable and promotional projects to develop additional skills to those that can be learnt through college\placements.
