About the role
Submarines operate in a very demanding environment and require the highest levels of quality in order to remain safe. Getting quality right first time will help to achieve cost and schedule performance challenges.
About the scheme
The Quality scheme is three years in duration, during which time Higher Apprentices move around the Quality function on three to six month placements. Typical tasks that are undertaken on the scheme include practical problem solving, using different quality tools, carrying out audits and investigations across the business, facilitating local action teams to drive continuous improvement, inspection and testing using different techniques (such as radiography, ultrasound, and dimensional control) and assessing suppliers.
What you’ll need
To apply for the Quality HA Scheme, you’ll require 3 A-levels grade A*-C (or equivalent), including Maths and a Science related subject (excluding General Studies).
All applicants will be expected to be medically fit as deemed necessary to perform the role, be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance. The focus of the Quality HA Scheme is on the development of the individual. You will be fully funded by the company to achieve a relevant level 4 qualification.
You’ll also have the opportunity to learn from colleagues who are experts in their field, and gain insights that can only come from real world experience. You will also be expected to take part in ‘Stretch Assignments’ these are opportunities to be involved in a variety of charitable and promotional projects to develop skills in addition to those that can be learned through college\placements.

The selection process is made up of four stages:
- Online application form
- Application review
- Assessment Centre including; Competency Interview, Presentation and Group Exercise
- Medical & Security checks
