About the apprenticeship

This is a 4 year scheme which begins with a 10 month block release period of college attendance, followed by 2 years of rotational placements designed to give you a great overview of the DF & PD business. Subject to a performance review, the final year will then be spent in 1 area of the business with a view to this becoming a junior position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Siemens is offering an IET approved professional development programme (your membership is paid for by Siemens) for apprentice engineers, combining both personal and technical development, 'off the job' college based training and 'on the job' experience which is intended to lead to completion of a Higher Apprenticeship with the following qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) - Conducted as 'block release' at Trafford College.
  • NVQ Level 4 in Technical Support (delivered in the workplace)
  • Technical Certificate - HNC (conducted 1 day per week at Trafford college).
  • Provision is in place currently to provide HND continuity with further plans to implement a top up to B.Eng within a 4 year duration of this apprenticeship.

Upon completion of the PEO, workplace NVQ and Technical Certificate, you are eligible to become professional registered as an Engineering Technician (Eng Tech). Successful completion of the scheme can result in job opportunities in Field Service, Project Engineering, Internal Sales and Technical Support roles.
