What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be enrolled onto the Civil Engineer Level 6 integrated degree apprenticeship with Suffolk New College. You will regularly attend teaching sessions, workshops, seminars and tutorials to develop your skills and knowledge working towards the BA (Hons) in Civil Engineering. You will be supported throughout the programme by mentors in the workplace.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Apprentices will undertake the six-year development programme,
which will give the individual the underpinning knowledge, experience and skills to become an Engineer, with a view to further developing their career in the future and ultimately gain a nationally recognised professional Incorporated Engineer qualification and has the potential to lead to future career development.

Things to consider
Applicants need to be able to demonstrate an aptitude in literacy and numeracy skills and in spatial awareness. Evidence of the use of in AutoCAD or similar design/assessment software is desirable. The role may involve some travelling to sites across Norfolk, a driving license would therefore be desirable.

- Production of CAD drawings and sketches.
- Preparation of simple calculations.
- Supporting the administration of projects.
- Ensuring outputs meet the required standards.
- Meeting agreed deadlines.
- Maintaining drawing register.
- Working as a member of a team.
- Contributing to providing solutions to problems.
- Working both in an office environment and on site.
- Surveying sites.
- Undertaking desk studies.
- Preparing cost estimates.
- Producing information on the quantity and type of materials to be used.
- Project planning (including safety, health, environment and quality).
