What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking for an ambitious and self-driven candidate with a desire to have positive influence in a technologically advanced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will need an initiative-taking approach to both problem solving and process development, as well as a hunger to grow and develop into the role.

The successful post holder will be based within the Production Process Engineering department, liaising with Advanced Manufacturing and New Product Introduction (NPI) to deliver and maintain safe and robust manufacturing solutions to production.

Tasks will include, but not limited to:
  • Provide process feedback at the initial design concept phase (DFM)
  • Pre-process verification (Equipment risk assessments, PFMEA, lessons learnt)
  • Process validation (capability studies on key characteristics, run at rate, SOP's, WI)
  • Process monitoring (measuring process against OEE targets and highlighting potential improvements)

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study on a Level 6 Manufacture Engineer standard on a Degree Level 6 in Mechanical Manufacture pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Degree Level 6 standard.

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield's AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Completion of this apprenticeship is just the start of your career and can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors.
