Alpek Polyester UK Ltd. is looking for an Apprentice Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to work as part of its engineering maintenance teams. The role involves installing, maintaining, testing and repairing equipment in a workshop, or on the chemical processing plant, working alongside skilled trades people, under supervision of a line manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Alpek Polyester UK Ltd is a subsidiary of Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V. the petrochemicals business of Alfa S.A.B. de C.V., one of Mexico’s largest corporations and a global producer in 29 countries, with annual sales in excess of $19 billion.   Based at our 64-acre manufacturing facility at Wilton in Teesside, we produce in excess of 200,000 tonnes of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) resin chips every year.

The Apprentice will follow the Science Industry Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard which will combine practical, technical and behavioural training with theoretical knowledge of engineering and related subjects.

Instrumentation Maintenance Technicians contribute to the fault-free and safe operation of the plants through the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of instrument equipment.

You will be expected to work as part of a maintenance team. As you progress you will be able to work individually, with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work you undertake.

Under supervision, the role holder will undertake the following activities:

Install, maintain, test and repair instrumentation equipment Complete planned and unplanned instrument maintenance activities Follow maintenance standard operating procedures Complete documentation accurately and on time Undertake mechanical maintenance tasks to deliver a timely response to support the manufacturing process Trouble shoot problems in the event of instrument failure of equipment

You will be required to:

Comply with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures at all times Comply with regulations and legislations and all other company policies and procedures at all times Safely use all necessary equipment and tools, and follow the appropriate engineering techniques, procedures and methods to complete maintenance tasks Comply with required standards for documentation, good housekeeping, and time keeping Work in varied conditions, including manufacturing plants and workshops, using engineering tools and specialist safety equipment
