We are very excited to announce that we are offering our first Apprenticeship in the Occupational Therapy
team at Royal Papworth Hospital.
Occupational therapy is a rewarding career which requires a highly developed knowledge and professional skill set to enable you to work across a range of settings and environments. Occupational therapists (we)work with individuals from birth to end of life including those with physical and mental health conditions, injury, learning disabilities, long-term conditions, palliative care needs and with those who find themselves displaced from society.
At Royal Papworth Hospital, Occupational Therapists focus on 'wellbeing through occupations'. We ensure patients are Safe And Functionally Enabled (SAFE) for community reintegration after life- changing heart and lung conditions that require surgery, organ transplantation or highly specialised medical interventions.
The apprenticeship will comprise of;
- On the job training and off the job day release study at Coventry University (London Campus)
- Dedicated time for study to support your development in this role
- Studying key concepts and knowledge base relevant to occupational therapy
- On the job mentoring and structured progression for the apprenticeship/student (e-portfolio)
- University sessions set for practical components
- A flexible learning approach - online lectures/ interactions to aid flexible learning
- Placements and professional practice experience, which is an integral part of the apprenticeship
- Completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy, approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
Come and join our friendly team and be supported to earn as you learn, whilst undertaking a nationally recognised qualification with a starting apprenticeship salary of £20,330. To meet the Skills Education Funding Agency (ESFA) funding rules applicants must have a right to work in the UK, or for EU citizens hold pre-settled or settled status and have been a UK or EU resident for the last three years or have indefinite leave to remain with documents that are not due to expire during the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
Applicants must also be able to evidence maths and English at level 2 and academic study at level 3.
You will be enthusiastic, have a positive work ethic, be keen to learn and able to work in an occupational therapy and wider multi-disciplinary team. You will receive support to gain a wide range of experience and skills, in addition to regular supervision and mentoring.
