The Activate Group of companies specialise in accident management services and partner with some of the country's best-known fleet providers and insurers to service hundreds of thousands of claims a year.

Companies in the group include: sopp+sopp, Motor Repair Network, Activate Parts and Activate Accident Repair. Based in the UK, and founded in 2015, AGL employs more than 600 people, with its main offices in Halifax and Peterborough.

Role overview:

As part of the IT Team, you will primarily support the software developers with new projects and integrations. Our primary focus is .NET development, and you will also work with scripting languages, databases, messaging & cloud. You will also support in the build of new solutions that should work seamlessly with existing code, requiring extensive analysis of legacy systems. Working as part of a small multi-disciplinary team you will support the applications you develop and work collaboratively to ensure everyone in the team can fill every technical role required. AGL is in a period of strong growth, providing impetus for a lot of development work alongside opportunities to get involved in DevOps activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Work with IT Support colleagues across Activate Group to understand common issues & workarounds with applications to ensure fast defect resolution.

- Support with the development of software using OOP best practices and relevant design patterns

- Support with the development of software following Test Driven Development (TDD) methodology

- Support with the development of automated scripts for test automation toolsets

- Support with the development of automated deployment/rollback scripts

- Learn how to be effectively manage source code & version control

- Proactively ensure a multi-disciplinary team by promoting knowledge sharing and working collaboratively

Skills and experience:

We can help you gain all the skills and experience needed to be successful in the role, were looking for great personalities and someone who thrives in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment. You will need excellent attention to detail, brilliant communication skills, a positive attitude and the motivation to learn. You will need to have A-Level or equivalent in an IT related subject and having knowledge or experience with C# and scripting (Windows PowerShell, JavaScript) is advantageous.
