What will the apprentice be doing?
An apprenticeship is a genuine job with an accompanying skills development programme. Through the Apprenticeship, you will gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills needed for your immediate job and future career. You will gains this through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practise new skills in a real work environment.
You will have a job role within COUCH and we will provide the opportunity for you to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to achieve your Apprenticeship, and will support you to have evidence that the role at COUCH Health allows you to gain wider employment experience as part of the Apprenticeship.
The purpose of this job role is to provide compelling digitally enabled design solutions to internal and/or external clients, across the healthcare industry and in a number of different contexts.
In your daily work, you will implement design concepts to develop and communicate new products and to provide design solutions utilising digital design technologies.
You will be responsible for the creation of digital design solutions for a wide range of areas including online services, installations, design for devices, interactive services and mobile applications.
What distinguishes this apprenticeship is the blend of employer-defined skills, knowledge and behaviour outcomes that are integrated and assessed as part of the degree. Through this programme, you will become confident, competent and a capable design professional able to operate in a range of related roles.

As part of the 36-month apprenticeship, you will get:
The learning will be provided via a blended delivery model. Which will include one intensive 2-day teaching block per unit will be delivered on campus - providing the rich and engaging face-to-face learning experience, you will value. This will be complemented with online learning that offers the accessibility and efficiency.

Once you qualify, there are many opportunities for your career. At COUCH Health we would offer the opportunity for you to continue growth as a digital designer, and work on client-facing/global campaigns that could improve the lives of people.
If suitable and based on your career progression, you could specialise in certain parts of digital design such as UX. This will be discussed and decided in conjunction with you.

- Design apps and websites that support a patient to improve their own lives
- You will develop website concepts that are accessible
- You will work on UX/UI development of websites
- Create and develop data visualisation dashboards
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As part of the 36-month apprenticeship, you will get:
- a degree
- a mix of work place learning and day release to attend MMU classes
The learning will be provided via a blended delivery model. Which will include one intensive 2-day teaching block per unit will be delivered on campus - providing the rich and engaging face-to-face learning experience, you will value. This will be complemented with online learning that offers the accessibility and efficiency.
What does blended learning look like:
- 12 days per year in the new state of the art SODA building at Manchester Met University
- 12 half day sessions per year which are online
