What will the apprentice be doing?
· Apprentices will learn how to buy strategically, ensuring not only that money is spent in the most cost effective way, that the council's annual spend with third parties also delivers Social Value securing employment, training opportunities, environmental and social benefits for the communities of Brent.
· The work of the team is diverse and there will be opportunities to work on a wide range of projects - from social care to major construction projects.
· The Apprentice will start by learning the basics of public procurement, including the legal context, and by the end of the scheme will have an extensive understanding of commercial thinking and strategies.
· All of this will provide invaluable hands-on experience as they study for the CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
All training is on site or online, with one day a week for study
Qualification: L4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply with the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
Completion of CIPS L4 gains eligibility for equivalent membership of the Institute.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
At the end of this apprenticeship you should be able to work in a Procurement role within the public sector, confident in the skills, & knowledge you have gained.
You should be able to apply for procurement roles within the public sector.

You must be a Brent resident. An understanding of the role is advantageous. You will need to have a flexible and positive approach to work as well as being reliable, punctual and willing to learn. Good communication & customer service skills The successful candidate will need good organisational skills, attention to detail, as well as good time management skills, with the ability to work accurately and adhere to strict deadlines. A well as an interest in a career within procurement, you will need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services.
