About the apprenticeship


This is an excellent opportunity to work for Gravells car dealerships in their head office in Kidwelly. With 7 dealerships across South Wales the Finance Department is extremely busy and are now looking to recruit for an Apprentice Finance Assistant to join their department.

The role will involve all aspects of Purchase Ledger/Accounts Payable:
• Invoice processing
• Maintaining the company purchase and sales ledgers
• Processing payments
• Liaising with customers and suppliers
• Basic administrative tasks
• Updating and maintaining procedural documentation
• Banking for the group
• Bank reconciliation

There is the opportunity in the future of supporting the management accountant with additional balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of the data for the submission of the monthly composites to the car manufacturers.

Additional information

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking their first role within finance. The company will be supporting you through the AAT qualification via Gower College Swansea and can be level 3, or 4 depending upon the individual's previous qualifications.



It is essential to:
• Have a keen interest in a career in accountancy.
• Excellent numerical skills.
• Good IT skills i.e. Microsoft packages, Excel.
• Be able to work collaboratively.
• Good attention to detail.
• Work well under pressure.
• Deliver to tight deadlines.


Ideally you will have at least Level 2 AAT qualification or an A' Level in Accounting or equivalent qualification.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
