What will the apprentice be doing?

We're looking for a college leaver to join our VAT team as a Tax apprentice working towards the Association of Tax Technicians qualification. We cover the costs of your courses and examinations. You also receive paid classroom study, study leave, exam leave and gain practical experience from day one.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

· Preparing VAT returns

· VAT registrations and deregistrations

· Helping with HMRC enquiries

· Dealing with queries from clients

· Helping with client onboarding and billing

We are a full-service accountancy practice and so there is scope to become involved in:

· Working on tax reporting, compliance and advisory services for personal tax, corporation tax and the Construction Industry Scheme

· Preparing statutory accounts

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will receive the following training in addition to the Apprenticeship Standard:

· In-house training on all company policies and procedures

· Technical VAT training, delivered by the team and outside providers where required

· Soft skills train to develop as a professional

Note that these are not part of a formal qualification but are designed to supplement and complement the training the apprentice will receive as part of the apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Employment with and progression within the firm following the grading structure in place.

Our people are our most important asset, and we want you to have the career you want. There is a clear path to Assistant Manager, Manager, and ultimately to Director for all our people.

We anticipate our apprentice will undertake ATT and CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor). As they progress, they will assume responsibility for training more junior members of staff and being the primary point of contact for clients.
