What will the apprentice be doing?

You will have extensive training to make sure you understand your role and you're confident in what you're doing - you'll always have someone you can ask for help too. Here are some of the things you can expect to do whilst working as a Tax Assistant:
  • Support on tailored tax solutions as part of the wider team.
  • Conduct technical research.
  • Generating working papers that are clear and well presented for review by your manager.
  • Liaise with clients and obtain information as needed in a timely manner.
  • Draft request lists and working with clients to explain information requests.
  • Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, directors, and colleagues.
  • Liaise with seniors to ensure work assigned adheres to timescales and deadlines.
  • Develop technical knowledge and fulfil training requirements.
  • Assist with ad-hoc assignments for clients including dealing with personal tax queries including inheritance tax, capital allowances, asset protection, property restructuring, capital gains tax and stamp duty land tax.
  • Following established procedures for workflows and updating these when necessary.
  • Assisting the wider team with their client portfolios.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Professional Accounting Taxation Technician Apprenticeship Level 4 - ATT qualification.

The ATT syllabus follows a modular structure, which consists of two core certificate papers and four optional certificate papers, allowing you to specialise in your own area of interest or expertise.

To apply for full ATT membership, you must pass the two core papers, one of the four optional papers and the three computer-based exams (Law, Professional Responsibilities & Ethics and Accounting), plus have two years of practical work experience in UK taxation.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
After completing the ATT Level 4, apprentices will be given financial support and time off to continue with further tax qualifications..
