What will the apprentice be doing?

We have an exciting development opportunity within our Adaptations team, who work to improve the lives of our most vulnerable residents through assessed adaptations, equipment and supporting residents with more suitable adapted accommodation.

You'll be part of real live projects, supporting a broad range of building surveying duties such as conducting surveys, writing reports and building relationships with the Adaptations Team and across the Council. As you develop your skills in both a practical and educational environment, you will take on more responsibility including maintaining quality and helping to keep track of project costs and timescales.

It really is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, work towards becoming a Junior Adaptations Surveyor and gain a qualification at the same time.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • To complete the Construction, Design and Build Technician Apprenticeship
  • To assist and deliver a broad range of surveying and administration related tasks within the Adaptations Team (under supervision)
  • To assist with feasibility site visits and the assessment of properties for the installation of adaptions, whilst supporting the clinical reasoning from Occupational Therapy
  • To assist the monitoring of works on site and sign off completed works
  • To attend in-house training and apprenticeship sessions as and when required
  • To develop excellent working relationships with colleagues across the Council, residents and contractors
  • Support and assist colleagues when required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You must be motivated to study for and complete a Level 4
Construction, Design and Build Technician apprenticeship and be willing to travel into London one day per week during term
time to attend apprenticeship training.

To meet the entry requirements for the course, successful candidates must have 5
GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at grade 4 (C) or above and have a level 3 qualification equivalent to 64
UCAS points (e.g. a Level 3 apprenticeship or 2 A Levels at D or above). An Enhanced DBS check will be needed for this
role.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This is a career development role with progression to a Junior Adaptations Surveyor post upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
