ARE YOU MAGNIFICENTLY DRIVEN?

The broad purpose of a Project Controller is to ensure that multi-faceted engineering and infrastructure projects are delivered successfully and safely to time, cost, and quality: by critically analysing, interpreting, and evaluating technical information.

At MAG, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to capture quality data, in the right format, at the right time and interpret information in the correct context – this is essential to ensure effective control.

Day-to-day, you will report into and work with one of our Senior Project Controllers. Supplementary to your line manager, Brendan Biggar, our Head of Project Controls, will sponsor your apprenticeship and encourage your development.

About the role:

At MAG, we use Project Controllers on projects where the level of risk associated with the project, such as commercial; safety; environmental; legal; and/or people, requires independent assurance and verification of technical information.

As an apprentice your principal accountabilities include:

  • Assist in the development, planning and control of the overall Capital Expenditure plan for MAG covering one-year, five-year and ten-year business planning periods.
  • Assist in payment tracking and cash-flow forecasting for accrual purposes.
  • Help produce near term (3 month look ahead week by week) capital projects cash-flow forecasts for MAG Finance.
  • Work in conjunction with the MAG Supply Chain team and Strategic Programme Management supplier to develop capital expenditure efficiencies from standardisation and work bundling opportunities.
  • Ensure timesheet compliance and reporting on internal charges.
  • Utilising industry standard software to support an efficient working environment.

About the apprenticeship:

This degree equivalent, four-year apprenticeship, is a well-structured journey to becoming a Project Controls Professional at MAG. With our training behind you, you will have everything you need to help our airports thrive and your career to soar.

The content of the apprenticeship, along with typical job roles post apprenticeship are acknowledged on the institute for apprenticeship & Technical Education website (Link here).

As a minimum, we need you to:

  • Have three A Levels (or equivalent), which ideally includes a STEM subject.
  • Be able to manage delicate information with integrity and sensitivity.
  • Take responsibility, show initiative, and be organised at all times.
  • Be flexible to changing circumstances.
  • Live in England & within commutable distance of Manchester Airport

Benefit and incentives:

As a MAG employee you will have access to great benefits, which include;

  • Free on-site parking whilst at work
  • Free Airport parking when you go on holiday (subject to availability and pre-booking)
  • Access to our reward portal, which includes discount with popular high street brands
  • 24hour Employee Assistance Programme
  • On-site discounts and heavily discounted staff shop
  • MAG Pension scheme which doubles your contribution
  • Discounts on tram and train travel to work
  • Discounts on MAG products such as Escape and 1903 Lounges
