What will the apprentice be doing?

Placed within our Football Development Department, apprentices will study the Sport Coaching Level 4 apprenticeship qualification (depending on qualifications and experience) and will work alongside experienced delivery staff to deliver Football Development Projects, including but not limited to, our Development Centres, Participation sessions such as mini kickers & skills centres and inclusion/disability sport.

As an apprentice your role will be:
  • To assist lead coaches on Shrewsbury Town Foundation projects, including but not limited to: our Development Centres, Participation sessions such as mini kickers & skills centres and inclusion/disability sport.
  • Supporting the operational activity and delivery of the Realising Potential, Achieving Goals, Changing Lives Strategy 2019-2023.
  • To carry out administrative duties as necessary e.g., maintain accurate attendance registers; monitor and evaluate assessment of coaching sessions and carry out risk assessment of activities.
  • To be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post and personal training needs supporting further career advancement
  • To undertake every opportunity to promote a positive image of Shrewsbury Town FC & The Shrewsbury Town Foundation.
  • To be prepared to carry out work during evening and weekend periods to meet the needs of the organisation (Unsociable hours).
  • To maximise opportunities to raise awareness of the organisations' activities.
  • To ensure that the safety of participants, volunteers and staff is prioritised at all times.
  • Ensuring that the Charity's health and safety, equal opportunities, child protection and vulnerable adults safeguarding policies represent best practice and are adhered to in all aspects of the Charity activities.
  • Perform other duties as required which are considered relevant to the post and to the objectives of Shrewsbury Town in the Community/Shrewsbury Town FC.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 4 Sports Coach higher standard.

You will have a range of training delivered through your apprenticeship with SCL Professional including:

Online learning
Webinars/virtual classrooms
Assignment and project work
1-2-1 on site teaching and learning
Mentoring
Masterclasses and talks
Workshops
Additional training and support relevant to your apprenticeship will be delivered by Shrewsbury Town FC

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you may be offered the opportunity to complete a higher level apprenticeship programme.
