What will the apprentice be doing?
Liaising with colleagues and clients in order to prepare and submit personal tax returns using specialist tax software.
Working from company annual accounts to prepare and submit corporate tax returns.
Assisting with the preparation of p11Ds and other tax documents.
Extracting data from various sources including company accounts, payroll records, bank statements and multiple pieces of specialist software.
Preparationof rental, sole trader and small company accounts.
Preparation and submission of VAT returns on behalf of clients.
Bookkeeping using accounts software such as Sage and Xero in preparation for tax returns.
Dealing with HMRC to resolve queries regarding clients' tax positions.
Assisting clients with providing information to support applications for finance including mortgage applications.
All administration duties included in running the tax department including use of spreadsheets, data entry, mail merges and filing.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The ATT syllabus follows a modular structure, which consists of two core certificate papers and four optional certificate papers, allowing you to specialise in your own area of interest or expertise. Core papers:Personal TaxationBusiness TaxationOptional Papers:Business Compliance Corporation TaxationInheritance Tax, Trusts & Estates Value Added TaxComputer-based examsLaw Professional Responsibilities and EthicsAccounting
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
We are looking to invest in someone for the long-term, not just for the initial apprenticeship. Further training and support on to further qualifications will be provided and the candidate will have exposure to a full working accounting practice, and can gain experience in various aspects of accountancy..
