About the apprenticeship

Duties

Your responsibilities are to:-
• Process payments to childcare settings
• Collect and monitor attendance at childcare settings
• Design and prepare promotional materials
• Meet and greet visitors to Flying Start and The Acorn Centre
• Provide general administrative support to the Flying Start team
• Complete accurate data entry into existing systems
• Provide support to the Family Information Service ensuring that information on the website is up to date and dealing with queries relating to the Childcare Offer
• Support the delivery of Early Years training by maintaining registers and attendance records and sending out certificates
• Promote the Welsh language within the Early Years team
• Be able to travel throughout Monmouthshire and also have the ability to work at home Take responsibility for your personal development and ensure you reach milestones and deadlines as agreed with your training provider.
• Maintain safe working practices for self and others, in accordance with the authority's policy statement on Health and Safety at Work.
• Abide by the princliples and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy.

Our Purpose:-
The Early Years team works across Monmouthshire in a number of ways including Flying Start, childcare development and provision of funding to enable young children to access childcare and early education before they start school. The over arching aim is to ensure that children have access to the services they need by working together as one large team.

The Purpose of this Role:-
Is to provide aministrative and business support to the Early Years and Flying Start team in order to support the allocation of childcare places, process payments for childcare settings, provide reception cover at the Acorn Children's Centre and promote the services of the Early Years team in Monmouthshire.

Would you like to develop your business support skills further in this exciting and varied apprentice post? We are looking for a candidate with excellent Welsh language skills and some previous qualifications in Business or Administration to support our Early Years team across Monmouthshire.

5 GCSE grades A-C or equivalent - including English Language and Mathematics

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
