Hours - 37.5 hours, 8:30 am - 5.00pm

Main duties of the job

We are looking for remarkable candidates for our 15-month Business Administration and Customer Service Apprenticeship (Level 2) programme, to provide efficient and effective administrative services to various teams across all sites. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients, and perform duties accurately including answering the telephone, data input, producing documents, filing and archiving.

The post will be demanding so we are looking for candidates who are ready for the challenge and share our values of care, honesty, and accountability. You will need to be able to demonstrate good communication and team working skills. Previous work experience in an office environment is desirable but not essential.

Eligibility and entry requirements

Applicants need to hold a minimum of 3 GCSE grades A*-C/9-4 and a minimum Level 1 in Numeracy (Grade D/3) and Level 2 in Literacy (GCSE Grade C/4). You must be aged 16 or over and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last three years. You must not hold a similar customer service/administration qualification (including apprenticeship) at Level 2 or higher.

During your 15 month apprenticeship you will be gaining valuable, transferable administrative skills and experiences that will enable you to apply for further jobs/posts in both the NHS and other sectors.

About us

HUTH has two main sites: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £500 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.

The Trust's secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services. These services are provided primarily to a catchment population of approximately 600,000 in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.

HUTH provides specialist and tertiary services to a population of 1.25 million extending from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to Grimsby and Scunthorpe in North East and North Lincolnshire respectively.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • A minimum of 3 GCSE's at Grades A*-C (or equivalent level 2 qualifications). A minimum of level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy (e.g. Grade C/5 or above in GCSE Maths and English). Must not hold a qualification that accredits similar skills or knowledge at the same level or above (i.e. previous administration apprenticeship or higher)


Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and social media platforms


Desirable

  • Work experience in an administrative or customer facing role. Customer service experience, dealing with people on the telephone, face to face, online etc.


Skills

Desirable

  • Able to make simple decisions, in line with policies and procedures, e.g. prioritisation of work. Evidence of working effectively to deadlines. Ability to work unsupervised for short periods of time.
