Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment ofan Admin Apprentice within the Sterile Services department at Musgrove Park Hospital.

The Sterile Services Department is responsible for the decontamination and reprocessing of medical devices used throughout Somerset.

Our skilled staff vary in roles from management, team leaders, technicians and administration staff. We also have a successful rate of apprentices, both technician and administration.

College Information

The working pattern will be discussed at the interview to ensure the successful candidates are fully supported in their learning and development and able to complete an educational pathway with the award winningBridgwater and Taunton College.

The College is located across two primary sites but the majority of your delivery will be supported online, through asynchronous study. You will be allocated a college academic mentor for the duration of your programme who will work with both you and your line manager to identify opportunities for growth and development and you will also attend a series of workshops to support knowledge development in business administration.

Apprentice Salary:

1styear - all ages:£9,405 per annum - £4.81 per hour

Age related after 1st year, if applicable

Age 18 - 20: £13,355 per annum

Age 21 - 22: £17,950 per annum

Main duties of the job

As part of this role you will provide support to the current admin Team and SSD technicians with various duties including filing various documentation and technical information and provide a professional reception service to all staff and visitors to the department.

You will work within a small team of administration staff providing support to our management, team leaders, technicians, administrators and customers.

The Apprenticeship will cover all Administration services including phone duties, typing, scanning, filing, booking system, managing incoming and outgoing mail, manage and receive telephone calls and messages, ensuring effective communication and courtesy at all times.

Recording of jobs to be done as regards new work or customer changes and ensure workload is prioritised based on date received.

Use of laminator and photocopier for labelling of various transit boxes and ensure labels are refreshed as and when needed.

Other jobs as requested to ensure the smooth administration of workload and both manual and electronic storage of various records.

This is a fixed term contract for 14 months, the role will include training on all aspects of administration gaining valuable work experience in Administration and Customer Service, obtaining NHS knowledge & experience and a Level 2 qualification.
