As a Technical Assistant Apprentice what will I be doing?
To fulfil all the requirements of the Ground Engineering support role whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Group & Sector Specific Procedures and Policies are met, in accordance with the Integrated Business Management System.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
In addition to the apprenticeship training you will receive hands on experience including mentoring and coaching from experienced members of the team. On this apprenticeship programme you will learn a range of skills.

Following completion of Level 4 Apprenticeship
·Option 1 - progress onto higher level apprenticeship
·Option 2 - continue role full-time within the business
To fulfil all the requirements of the Ground Engineering support role whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Group & Sector Specific Procedures and Policies are met, in accordance with the Integrated Business Management System.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Assist in co-ordination of technical information between internal/external parties.
- Assist Geotechnical Engineering team in reviewing site/ground investigation data extracting essential base information as directed and identifying any gaps in information.
- Assist in obtaining samples and test results along with ongoing development of associated ITP database. (Tenders and Live projects)
- Liaise with Geomatics team to develop information data capture such as zoning and construction make up thicknesses and obtaining data in required format.
- Raise queries through relevant teams to obtain clarity as required.
- Visit site during tender (where required) to help understand site constraints.
- Liaise with Geotechnical Engineering team to help inform appropriate foundation/slab/pavement support.
- Liaise with in-house Temporary Works team (as required) to establish designs for items such as earth retention, earth batters, pile mat requirements, etc.
- Support project/tender "live" files with updated information/results etc
- Liaise with supply chain to establish retaining wall options.
- Attend and actively participate in 'ground down' workshops.
- Work with Geomatics and Earthworks team to develop tender strategy.
- Contribute to the development of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) in both "initial appraisal" and "developed" stages
- Contribute to risk and opportunity scheduling.
- Explore value engineering opportunities as directed.
- Visit site during key activities to gain greater understanding of site operations and obtain feedback.

Desired qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above or equivalent is preferred.
- A Level or equivalent
- Full driving licence desirable but not essential
