Are you interested in taking your first steps into a career in digital? As an enthusiastic and adaptable individual, you will be able to achieve a qualification in content production whilst being a valued member of our fabulous Digital team.

What will the apprentice be doing?

You’ll gain first-hand experience of the skills needed to make a career in digital work, as you carry out a variety of tasks associated with keeping a large council website running successfully and learn about how content production sits alongside the work of other roles such as service design and user adoption.
You will take on key activities to support the work of the team, such as:

  • monitoring and actioning feedback from the public about our website.
  • carrying out proactive maintenance of our website to address issues, improve performance and run reports using the SiteImprove system.
  • managing job advert requests from third-party organisations, including creating new online adverts, invoicing, and reporting on income.
  • supporting user research activities such as surveys, heatmaps, and user testing.
  • supporting digital accessibility through correcting issues, helping to audit websites, and providing advice.
  • Supporting services with information on website performance by using Google Analytics.
  • setting up web editor accounts for our main website.
  • helping support our content design community and Design Group.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Over 18 months in the role, you will develop a broad range of skills in a variety of content creation disciplines whilst completing the level 3 Junior Content Producer apprenticeship, with the added benefit of working alongside experienced content designers.
