In each placement you will get involved in day-to day activities with real objectives and a chance to innovate. This will enable you to transfer your academic learning directly into the workplace. As part of the three-year programme, you will study for a BA (Hons) Business Management degree which is accredited by Chartered Management Institute, in partnership with Birmingham City University (BCU). You will also have GCSE grade C in Maths and English Language (or equivalent). You should have great organisation skills, be IT literate and have a good attention to detail. But more than this, we want you to be passionate about joining our brand, proactive, confident and curious. You will need to have some work and / or volunteer experience under your belt. To be successful at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services UK you need to be able to build great relationships and demonstrate your ability to work in a professional manner. If you can showcase all of these attributes and you're seeking a role where you can gain real business experience, then this could be the programme for you. But don’t just take our word for it, Matthew Dix is one of our first colleagues combining full-time work and university as part of our degree apprenticeship. The Sunday Times had the pleasure of meeting Matthew to learn about his experience joining Mercedes-Benz and his career aspirations. “Beforehand, I was going down the usual University route,” he says. “Coming out of Uni the debt is always there in the background.”
Our Head STARt Apprentice Programme offers the best of both worlds, combining full time work and University study without the expense. On Wednesdays, Matthew is on campus or studying at home, and by putting in some work through holidays and evenings the course is manageable. “A lot of people ask me about working full-time while studying, but the negatives are massively outweighed by the positives,” Matthew adds.
