What will the apprentice be doing?
VPA are eager to recruit a tax assistant to join their growing team. The successful candidate will benefit from training with senior members of the team and be given the opportunity to assist with a range of tax compliance work.
In addition, they will be given an excellent training package which, should they wish, could lead them to achieving chartered status.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below:
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Professional Accounting Taxation Technician Apprenticeship Level 4 - ATT qualification.
The ATT syllabus follows a modular structure, which consists of two core certificate papers and four optional certificate papers, allowing you to specialise in your own area of interest or expertise.
To apply for full ATT membership, you must pass the two core papers, one of the four optional papers and the three computer-based exams (Law, Professional Responsibilities & Ethics and Accounting), plus have two years of practical work experience in UK taxation.

Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons, Live Online sessions or OnDemand. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Depending upon the wishes of the candidate, their ability and the firm's requirements at the time, the candidate has many routes available to them to progress their career and learning with Verinder Powell Associates Limited.
Possibilities include becoming a more senior member of the tax team, expanding their knowledge and work in the personal tax department (perhaps studying towards the CTA qualification).

- Preparation of personal tax calculations including income tax and capital gains.
- Assistance with basic income and expenditure accounts.
- Carrying out tax research and preparing summaries of findings.
- Dealing with client's queries and preparing correspondence.
- Dealing with HM Revenue and Customs on various aspects.
- Assisting with administration tasks.
- The candidate may also be asked to complete work from the accounts department when required.
