Level 3 Pensions Apprenticeship

Start Date: July – August 2022

We are on the hunt for a passionate individual who is motivated to launch or pursue a career within Human Resources, specifically Pensions. This position allows you to experience the functions of HR within a global automotive business as well as studying towards your Level 3 Pensions Workplace Qualification

The Role:

As a Pensions apprentice you will assist with the administration of PSA Group’s pension plans.

In the role you will learn:

  • the rules and regulations that govern the benefits payable from the pension plans including the associated death and disability benefits.
  • how to calculate benefits accurately and in a timely manner for various plan events, for example, early retirement of an employee.
  • how to raise payments by cheque or bank transfer to members, their beneficiaries and to other providers.
  • how best to correspond with members, beneficiaries and advisers in relation to the payment of member benefits.
  • how to deal sensitively and compassionately with members and/or their relatives in difficult circumstances to ensure that the company continues to be viewed positively by employees, former employees and their relatives/representatives.
  • how to maintain accurate computerised records for circa 16,000 members ensuring records can be used to calculate the correct benefits at all times.
  • how to correspond with Government departments, such as DWP and HMRC to ensure that the Plans comply with all legislative requirements. 
  • how to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that Service Level Agreements are adhered to.
  • different pensions systems and Microsoft applications, such as Excel.



To be successful you will need strong analytical skills and be an excellent communicator. Attention to detail and tenacity are essential as are strong Maths, English and ICT skills.

At the end of the Apprenticeship you will receive a pensions industry recognised qualification and attain much sought after experience.


The role will be home based with the occasional requirement to travel to our Head Office in Coventry.

Your Qualification:

We have partnered with The Growth Company, for the Level 3 Workplace Pensions Qualifications.   Learning will be undertaken through a mix of online & face to face learning and independent self-study. You will be given time off the job, to work on your qualification. The course will last 18 – 24 months in total, depending on what modules you choose to complete.

This apprenticeship covers the Workplace Pension Administrator/Consultant Standard plus industry professional qualifications relevant to the role.

The course focuses on building your knowledge in key areas of the pension scheme structure, compliance and commercial awareness along with the communication, development skills and behaviours that underpin your role in the industry.
