What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include:

Using excel spreadsheets, or software e.g. Xero to prepare business accounts (both companies and sole traders) from csv bank statements, and bills and invoices.
Running monthly payroll for small businesses commonly with one or two employees, but a few businesses having 5 or 6 employees.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Professional Accounting Taxation Technician Apprenticeship Level 4.

You will be studying the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting. After qualifying, you can work in accounting roles or progress onto studying chartered accountancy. The course is made up of three mandatory units and five optional units. You must pass all the mandatory assessments and two optional unit assessments to achieve the qualification.

Mandatory:
  • Drafting and Interpreting of Financial Statements (DAIF).
  • Applied Management Accounting (AMAC).
  • Internal Accounting Systems and Controls (INAC).

Optional:
  • Business Tax (BNTA).
  • Personal Tax (PNTA).
  • Audit and Assurance (AUDT).
  • Cash and Financial Management (CSFT).
  • Credit and Debt Management (CRDM).

Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons, Live Online sessions or OnDemand. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Take over an allocation of company clients dealing with company accounts and self assessment.

Things to consider

Benefits include: 4 weeks holidays plus bank holidays and parking pass will be provided after 3 months. The salary is £14k - £16k depending on your qualifications, skills and experience.
