About the apprenticeship
Duties will include job shadowing a qualified member of staff from this company specialising in aluminium rainwater systems. You will have involvement with the manufacture and powder-coat of aluminium rainwater goods, including gutters, fascias, soffits, pipes, copings, flashings, sills and column casings, cast iron, zinc and uPVC rainwater systems. Specialist duties will include working with aluminium and TIG welding to specification to weld thin aluminium of 1.5mm/2mm and 3mm thicknesses. Fabrication is involved using guillotines Bystronic CNC brake press, upstroke saws, punches etc. Other labouring and general duties also to be carried out as required, e.g. maintaining a clean and tidy work area in line with health & safety working practices. Whilst in full-time employment you will undertake the following qualifications:
NVQ Diploma in Fabrication & Welding Engineering
VRQ Diploma in Engineering Technology
Essential Skills in Application of Number, Communication and Digital Literacy
Before applying for this position please ensure you are able to travel to and from the place of employment in Bridgend and to the XR Training Centre in Pyle once a week. You will be employed full-time as an Apprentice Apprentice TIG Aluminium Welder/Fabricator by this company based in Bridgend. You will be enrolled onto a level 2 apprenticeship in Welding & Fabrication.

Must be able to read basic measurements/drawings
Enthusiastic about the job and training with a real desire to qualify
Must show intuition and be good working manually
Experience with tools desirable but not essential
Must be able to follow instructions and work with others
Prior basic knowledge or experience of metal work preferable but not essential
