Job Details
Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician, working throughout the Pharmacy department including working with ward and dispensary staff and patients at The Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Pharmacy technicians are vital members of today's healthcare team and contribute greatly to the safe supply of medicines, ensuring patient safety and improving patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will undertake a two year fixed term Integrated Apprenticeship which will result in qualification as a Pharmacy Technician. This will involve studying one day a week via distance learning with Bradford College to gain the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
Completion of the course and successful achievement of the Diploma will enable registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmacy Council. There is opportunity for further development within the Pharmacy sector, including medicines optimisation roles, aseptic preparation, staff training, clinical trials, procurement and more.
Main duties of the job
To undertake a wide range of pharmaceutical duties under the supervision and professional direction of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician:
Core Activities include:
- To dispense medicines safely and effectively
- To undertake ward pharmacy duties e.g. ward top-up
- To work on a rotational basis throughout the department
