What will the apprentice be doing?
Initially you will be:
· Planning & Preparation: assisting the internal audit team with background research and identification of controls, arranging necessary appointments with the client in advance and help prepare terms of reference for assignments;
· Testing: working with the team to help determine the testing strategy. Undertaking testing in line with the testing strategy and documenting the work you have carried out;
· Evaluation of Testing Results: reviewing the results and conclusions of your testing and making recommendations for improvement under the guidance of the internal audit team and attending debrief meetings where your supervisor feeds back the outcome of the audits to the client;
· Reporting: Preparing the first draft of internal audit reports in the standard report Bracknell Forest internal audit report template based on the outcome of audit work completed.
As you gain in confidence and experience you will have the opportunity to undertake whole assignments from planning through to reporting to ensure that by the end of your training, you will have an in-depth insight into the workings of the Council and will have developed the skills to meet the Internal Audit Practitioner Level 4 apprenticeship standard.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Your apprenticeship programme will help you grow in your role and gain valuable skills and experiences for your current and future work. Around 20% of your working hours each week will be devoted to online learning workshops, on the job training, coaching and other professional development activities.
By the end of your training, you will have an in-depth insight into the workings of the Council and will have developed the skills to meet the Internal Audit Practitioner Level 4 apprenticeship standard.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On successful completion of this programme and satisfactory performance there may be opportunity for further progression within the team and potentially progression to the Internal Audit Professional Level 7 Apprenticeship.
