We are the future of modern luxury

We are the pioneers creating the next-generation of outstanding vehicles, founded on modern luxury. Each and every one of us are shaping the exceptional with soul. We are reimagining the driving of tomorrow and redefining what’s possible.

We are the future of movement.

We can’t wait to see what you can do with us.

Industrial Operations: Manufacturing

Manufacturing sits within our new Industrial Operations function. Our Industrial Operations function incorporates all teams across manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain and consolidates accountability for the complete ecosystem of how we produce our vehicles, in one place.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing is at the very heart of Jaguar Land Rover, with thousands of vehicles being created every day across our production facilities. Here you will have the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing. This scheme is aimed at undergraduates who have a passion for learning and a pioneering mindset: ambitious, innovative and determined individuals who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow.

During your journey to becoming an expert in manufacturing, you will learn how to effectively implement and manage a lean operation and interpret the digital engineering lifecycle of a vehicle whilst developing exceptional core competencies in engineering.

On the Industrial Operations: Manufacturing Undergraduate Programme in Halewood you could work at our Halewood Plant or within our Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) function. You will be allocated to a department based on personal preferences and business need.

Halewood Plant

Halewood is home to the iconic Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport and is central to our manufacturing operations. Whether you focus on body, paint, trim and final, launch or Materials, Planning and Logistics (MPL), you will experience the end-to-end production of our vehicles.

This is an exciting time to join Halewood, as we develop the new generation of electric cars, which will be delivered in 2025. This landmark launch will bring together diverse technologies to realise our innovative Electrical Modular Architecture (EMA) platform – and you can play your part in making it happen.

Utilising a range of toolsets and benefiting from extensive on-the-job training, you will learn all about problem solving and applying data analysis techniques, giving you all the skills you need for a fast-moving manufacturing career.

Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME)

Our GME team is responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of manufacturing facilities and processes to build the modern luxury vehicles of the future. Join us and it will be your responsibility to ensure that our manufacturing plant teams have the facilities they need to deliver vehicles in the right quantities and to the highest quality standards.

This diverse team spans a broad spectrum of disciplines across a range of technology areas:

Process and industrial engineering plans and implements processes to deliver the required volume from our plants.

Dimensional systems engineering ensures that vehicle designs and features meet customers’ expectations, including reporting on body quality progress.

Facilities engineering is responsible for making certain that parts are delivered to production lines on time and to agreed quality standards.

Vehicle Configuration Acceptance Testing (VCAT) evaluates both software and electrical systems before delivery.

If you wish to concentrate on one of these areas in particular, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you. Wherever you gain experience with us, you will enjoy the opportunity to shape and influence the way we manufacture our next generation of electrified vehicles as we become a net zero carbon emitter by 2039. You will be joining us at a time of reimagination and rebirth, so there has never been a better moment to influence the future of our world-renowned brands.

What’s required?

You will need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline (not including biology or life sciences). We are particularly interested in hearing from mechanical engineering and industrial manufacturing engineering undergraduates but will also consider aeronautical and automotive engineering students if you have a strong interest in manufacturing.

You will have a real passion for problem solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students (those who will be returning to their final year of study after their placement with us). All our undergraduate programmes have a fixed start date, commencing 3 July 2023.

Rewards and benefits

We haven’t yet confirmed our 2023 undergraduate programme salary, but in 2022 this was £19,452. You’ll also enjoy 26 days’ holiday, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, an excellent pension scheme and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.

Apply Now

You will use your innovation and creativity to the full every day as you develop all the skills for a fast-moving career. With ongoing support from industry-leading experts, backed by continual learning opportunities, you’ll quickly realise that our programmes are as inspiring as the vehicles you’ll help to create.

Please be aware that we close our programmes at any point and at short notice based on the volume of applications. To give yourself the best chance of being considered for a place on this programme please apply early.
