As the training and mentoring provides the apprentice with greater and greater skills and experience, the tasks assigned will become increasingly involved. Depending on the initiative of the individual and how their learning progresses there is the potential to take on greater responsibility and before long be able to develop simple sites start to finish.

Your duties will include:
  • Web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP
  • Developing designs into responsive website themes and emails
  • WordPress development
  • Populating websites with content
  • Editing and updating website content
  • Launching and testing websites
  • Server administration and configuration
  • Backups and updates to websites
  • Team training and code standardisation
  • Project scoping and planning

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training is provided through Happy Ltd, a well-established, award-winning training provider; working closely with industry experts. Training will be a mixture of virtual workshops, online learning and 1:1 coaching. You will have 2 group training sessions and 1 coaching session per month. All sessions are delivered remotely and are practical, hands-on, and proactive. We seek to make learning an enjoyable and involving experience. On achievement of this apprenticeship you will get a level 4 higher apprenticeship qualification.

The learning programme will include foundational code skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP; essential tools like the command line, source control, and automation; and fundamental concepts like Accessibility, Agile, Testing, UX, and the Software Development Life Cycle.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We are looking for enthusiastic web developers who are keen to learn and add to their existing web development skills. They will learn how web development in a team environment works, from start to finish.

This is an incredible opportunity to learn the fundamental skills necessary to start a career in web development. Training is provided by highly skilled professional web developers who will equip you with the knowledge and experience to fast track your way to becoming a web developer. Everything you learn during the training sessions will be absolutely current and applicable to your work. Group training will be with other web development apprentices, giving you the opportunity to learn from and support each other.

If you do well in this apprenticeship you may be offered a permanent position.

On completion of this apprenticeship you could continue your learning with a higher level qualification or degree.
