Job summary

Fixed term apprenticeship contract for 18 months

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Acute Paediatrics for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice.

You will have opportunity to develop the skills that help provide a comprehensive and effective administrative service as well as gaining insight into the provision of education and development within the NHS.

You will be part of the Acute Paediatric admin team supporting the with the setup of clinics, typing of correspondence and organising workloads and diaries.

The successful candidate must have a flexible approach, possess excellent communication skills, must be reliable, well organised and able to work as part of a team or independently.

Main duties of the job

This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours a week. A proportion of time will be spent with a training provider studying towards the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

The post holder will be expected to complete the Business Administration apprenticeship. Please note that we will not be able to shortlist any applicants with more than 50% prior learning/work experience of this apprenticeship standard.

Job responsibilities

To provide administrative support i.e. filing, scanning, photocopying and typing, diary management.

To take minutes at meetings, when required.

Retrieve records, update data, enter new data and information accurately using the Departmental and Trust computer systems.

Prioritise queries and bring to the attention of relevant staff in a timely manner and act on any instruction.

Deal with face to face and telephone enquiries, convey messages and transfer calls as necessary whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

To be responsible for receiving and processing outgoing mail

To communicate effectively and liaise with other professionals in a clear, concise and professional manor.

Generate and prepare documents such as letters and reports.

Support the Trust by attending career events and fair to promote apprenticeships

To undertake statutory training as required in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and the Trusts policies.
