Job summary

37.5 Hours per week (Apprenticeship - 18 months)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the established team based in the Renal Day Unit at The James Cook University Hospital.

The post holder will be expected to work as part of the renal multidisciplinary team within an outpatient department, working Monday to Friday 8-4 in a clerical role.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the team of cross renal nurse specialists and Nephrologists. You will be released for study and supported to achieve a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.

The successful candidate must be IT literate and be familiar with the IT systems in use.

Previous administrative experience would be desirable but not essential. Training and support will be offered.

Main duties of the job

The minimum entry requirements are2 GCSE's 3-2/D-E or level 1 Functional Skills in English andmaths (or equivalent qualifications).

  • A relevant administration qualification or apprenticeship (in the same field) at level 2 or above (If applicants have other qualifications similar to administration, an eligibility check will need to be completed to ensure they are eligible to do this apprenticeship.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
