Job summary

To perform a range of basic Cardiological investigations, listed in Job description on patients referred to the department and in the community if required

Main duties of the job

Working unsupervised and under the day to day direction of Cardiography Service Supervisor you will:
  • Perform 12-lead ECG tests, as required throughout the Trust ensuring appropriate processing of printouts and maintaining proper records of the tests performed.
  • Understand the significance of the ECG traces recorded and initiate further action by senior cardiac physiology, nursing or medical staff as necessary.
  • Identify and correct clinical and technical problems, which may lead to poor quality or misleading results.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for ambulatory monitoring, including coaching patients in the appropriate use of the equipment and patient diary.
  • Retrieve data from ambulatory equipment, using the appropriate computing/telephonic/recording devices provided and then to check the quality of the data, editing where appropriate and preparing reports for printing. It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that reports are presented for review/reporting in a timely fashion and to arrange reappointment of failed recordings.

Be responsible for the cleaning, functional checks and basic maintenance of equipment and work areas, and to maintain proper records of the work undertaken. Report equipment malfunction to the Cardiology Service

This is scheduled for completion this year.
