What you’ll do

A front-line role with direct customer contact and a responsibility to ensure all customers receive a timely, fair and consistent response in a manner that represents TJX Europe. Customer service is the heart of our business which aims to provide an exceptional service that leaves the customer feeling valued.

As an Associate working as part of the Customer Service team, you’ll acquire a holistic view of our business, seeing firsthand the outcome of our business decisions. You will also meet and partner with people from other business functions, to build your awareness of how we operate, and discover how a career in Customer Service can add value to what we do, at every opportunity.

Whilst doing a real job within the customer service team you will also be studying towards your Customer Service apprenticeship qualification. You will receive expert knowledge and training both on the job and with a top-quality external training provider either face to face in a classroom setting or online. You will be surrounded by support from your peers, manager and mentor. The qualification should take approximately 18 months to complete and will be fully funded by us. At the end of your study you will receive your Customer Service Specialist Level 3 qualification and have a promising career ahead of you.

“The main purpose of a customer service specialist is to be a ‘professional’ for direct customer support within all sectors and organisation types. You are an advocate of Customer Service who acts as a referral point for dealing with more complex or technical customer requests, complaints, and queries. You are often an escalation point for complicated or ongoing customer problems. As an expert in your organisation’s products and/or services, you share knowledge with your wider team and colleagues. You gather and analyse data and customer information that influences change and improvements in service. Utilising both organisational and generic IT systems to carry out your role with an awareness of other digital technologies. This could be in many types of environment including contact centres, retail, webchat, service industry or any customer service point.”

What you’ll need

  • EDUCATED TO AT LEAST GCSE (OR EQUIVALENT) STANDARD IN MATH AND ENGLISH
  • Experience of front-line customer service in a query-based environment
  • An understanding of what makes great customer service and a desire to deliver it
  • Patience and the ability to empathise and build rapport with customers
  • Tenacity and willingness to own a problem through to resolution
  • Attention to detail and administration skills, for note taking and keeping track of multiple tasks at once
  • Good communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English and good listening skills
  • IT literate with good keyboard and internet skills
  • Happy to work in a Rota system, and be able to work weekends and/ or evenings
