What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Transport Data Analyst to join our successful and innovative Transport Planning team where you will play a key role in shaping the future development of Warwickshire's transport infrastructure, vital to supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity. This role offers an excellent opportunity to start your career in transport monitoring, modelling and planning.

The Transport Planning team identifies, develops, and delivers transport schemes to meet the objectives of the County Council's Local Transport Plan.

The Modelling and Monitoring team plays a key role in supporting the Council's enviable record of securing funding and delivering major transport improvements across all modes of travel.

Data collection and analysis to support all aspects of transport planning is highly valued by the Council, recently demonstrated by a significant investment in monitoring capabilities.

There is much more to come over the next few years, with plans to deliver an ambitious pipeline of transport projects, working with new and interesting monitoring technologies, and planning and delivery of numerous multi-modal transport schemes.

As our apprentice you can expect a varied and challenging role that enables you to gain new professional skills and qualifications. This will include supporting the development and implementation of transport monitoring tasks, including commissioning of surveys, production of monitoring reports, data management and trend analysis.

Key tasks of this post include:
  • Undertaking regular automatic survey programme
  • Data capture/commissioning for specific studies/modelling team support
  • Uploading and checking the accuracy of data
  • Monitoring Local Plan targets
  • Monitoring the effects of schemes on different modes of travel

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • This apprenticeship will provide you with the Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship and an additional qualification, the DA-100 Analyst Data with Microsoft Power BI module, delivered by QA Ltd
  • Training will be delivered by QA in line with modules that include online workshops and regular check ins from an assessor. Functional skills level 2 also included if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

It is Warwickshire County Council policy to seek that all our apprentices are retained in a further position, subject to performance and completion of the apprenticeship, and an available vacancy.

Progression from this apprenticeship could be to become a Transport Delivery Officer, a Business Support Officer, or a Business Intelligence Officer.

Things to consider

This role will be subject to WCC's flexible working policy, meaning you can work from the office or from home - in all likelihood there will be a balance between the two. All equipment needed for this will be provided. Please consider your travel requirements for getting to the office location (central Warwick) before applying.
