In this role you will study towards the Level 4 Healthcare Science Associate apprenticeship whilst undertaking the role of Retrieval Assistant:
- You will support the work of the Retrieval team, performing a range of routine tasks which relate to the donation, transport and follow up of deceased donors. This will include performing deceased tissue retrieval (e.g. skin and bone) under direct supervision.
- You will be competent to facilitate the retrieval of eyes from deceased donors without supervision at non-NHSBT locations after training and assessment.
- You will work flexibly across the range of activities as rostered.
- You will be required to work weekends and evenings with notice, as well as undertake any other opportunities that will enable you to successfully attain your apprenticeship.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 4 Healthcare Science Associate Standard, including a Level 4 BTEC Foundation Diploma in Healthcare Science
- Blended delivery incorporating on-line classes and face to face assessment in the workplace
- Inputs delivered one day per week
