What will the apprentice be doing?

The successful applicant will be a key member of the Operational team at the factory, supporting with compliance to our Quality, Energy and Environmental management systems.

During the programme you will be provided with a wealth of learning and development opportunities whilst gaining a Mineral Products Technician Apprenticeship - Level 5.

You will be working alongside experienced professionals.

You will complete a series of technical modules within various departments and locations across the company.

You will also develop the attitudes and behaviours essential to the safe and efficient operation of our factories.

Your duties will include:
  • Sampling/testing, and analysis of all raw materials and finished product
  • Carry out quality, environmental and energy measurements/checks
  • Collation, processing and analysing key performance data across the manufacturing process
  • Assist in the development of Safe Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments
  • Analysing complaints from our customers

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will move into a Production Management role with responsibility for leading, motivating and developing a multi-skilled team to optimise the performance of the factory, thereby exceeding customer expectations.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Mineral Products Technician Level 5.

This apprenticeship has a University Diploma in Mineral Products Studies qualification mapped to it.

The University of Derby will deliver the Mineral Products Technician Higher Apprenticeship to successful candidates through blended learning. This includes face-to-face teaching on-campus at the University of Derby, when required. Alongside online (distance learning), virtual classrooms and employer training in the workplace.

Time spent completing off-the-job training is part of working hours.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the programme you will move into a Management role.

Things to consider

A full UK driving licence is advantageous, with the flexibility to travel across the country if required as during the programme you will also complete a series of technical modules within various departments and locations across the company.
