You need to be flexible and creative to align with the scope and size of the projects we deliver and you may have the opportunity to work wholly on-site (as part of a large planning team), in-office, or a balance of both depending on project characteristics.

Over the course of the programme, you will spend the first 12 months on site to gain a better understanding of construction projects and the roles involved. You will then be given more and more responsibilities eventually having responsibility for individuals sections or packages. Your programme will include:
  • Training on the planning software and methods
  • Attending site visits to understand build processes and sequencing
  • Using benchmark data you will learn how to establish durations, then integrate logic to develop overall programmes
  • Once a certain aptitude for the software and processes has been gained you will be allocated to projects in support of site planner and will be involved in weekly updates, weekly planning meetings, and implementing instructed changes to the programme, under the guidance of a more senior planner
  • Gaining an understanding of how planning supports all aspects of the delivery of the project
  • Site experience which also supports the learning of site processes and construction methodology and terminology

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
