Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust are looking to welcome an apprentice into the Medical Education Team, who will work as an integral member of the team whilst completing theirBusiness Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship with a local education provider.

You will be givenone paid study day per week in a funded 18 month apprenticeship course. The department will work closely with the education provider to support the apprentice's learning and development while in this role.

The ideal applicant will be organised, practical to prioritise and organise their own workload and will have confidence in dealing with colleagues, clinicians etc. The post requires attention to detail, commitment and an ability to work as part of a team. A good level of customer services skills would be advantageous as our staff are our customers.

Please note: There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you're in.

Main duties of the job

Whilst studying on your Apprenticeship, your day-to-day duties will include:
  • Supporting the administrative processes and functions for all medical education across UHD
  • Ensuring timely level of communication to all doctors relating to education and training and medical updates
  • To provide accurate reporting for teaching attendance and feedback for all medical education relating to the following across both sites and work with the responsible persons for each programme
  • To provide general support to doctors with queries relating to study leave, travel expenses and medical induction
  • Support our outreach programme to local 6th formers across Dorset for those that are interested in a career in medicine
  • The post holder will provide support for room bookings and reception dutie
  • The post holder will ensure that all training rooms are fully equipped with essential resources
  • Self-directed study to complete the Apprenticeship Programme within the 18-month timeline, ensuring assignments and portfolios are submitted on time, and to a high quality
  • Attend regular reviews with your line manager and Apprenticeship Tutor

This position will be based on our Royal Bournemouth site. This is a full-time position.

Attention to detail is fundamental to the role and you will be supported to grow these skills as part of your training.
