What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties to include, but not limited to:
  • Production of the weekly account's 'flash' P&L and other reports.
  • Provide explanations of variances between 'flash', actuals, budgets and forecasts.
  • To provide insightful explanations and commentaries on all areas of financial information and drive actions for improvement.
  • To assist the Finance Business Partner in the production of the monthly management accounts, this will include the calculation of revenue and cost accruals.
  • Provide full P&L and balance sheet reconciliations including variance analysis.
  • Production of detailed working papers to support all accruals. (Note monthly accounts are prepared to fast close requirements of 6 Japanese working days.)
  • To assist the Finance Business Partner with budget and forecast preparation.
  • Confident to challenge operational staff on issues of data integrity.
  • Manage data held within the operational systems, ensuring accuracy and validity.
  • Recommend and help implement process improvements.
  • To produce any required information or business reporting as required by senior finance staff, e.g. for the audits or one off analysis.
  • Provide cover for or assistance to other finance colleagues.
  • Complete any other adhoc duties as required.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • Level 4 Professional Accounting Taxation - AAT apprenticeship standard.
  • Level 2 maths and English functional skills if required.
  • 121 skills coach support.
  • AAT textbooks.
  • 2 optional units to complete in specific fields of Business Tax, Personal Tax , External Auditing, Treasury Management or Credit Management.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Opportunity to progress and enhance career either through completion of further apprenticeships, or company funded external qualifications.
