What will the apprentice be doing?
As an Apprentice Planning Manager you will assist the project team in the master planning, management and coordination of construction activities to ensure the project is delivered on time, on budget and to the required safety, environmental and quality standards. Your responsibilities will increase throughout the programme as your technical knowledge and skills develop.
Responsibilities will include:
Your work base will be flexible and could be in one of Mace offices or at a client's office or facility. You will gain exposure to all aspects of project delivery from concept design, through to construction, commissioning, validation handover and into operation.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Our structured training programme will teach you technical and business skills to help you succeed in your career.
The Planning Assistant apprenticeship will work towards the Construction Site Supervisor L4 which consists of work-based experience and training.
A Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment that meets the knowledge requirements of the standard and is approved by the industry's recognised professional bodies meeting the educational requirements for Technician status or the equivalent level of membership.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
We'll also support you in gaining professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

- Gain awareness and knowledge of construction techniques, methodologies and processes including construction to production.
- Utilise and operate planning project management software Primavera P6 and Asta Powerproject
- Monitor progress of time related material and maintenance of master programme (under supervision and coaching)
- Contributes to accurate forecasting and reporting procedures plus record keeping.
- Communicates programme requirements to the Project Team
- Contributes to the short-term planning process
- Awareness of 4D planning systems.
- Awareness of different types of contracts and the planning requirements
- Awareness of the commercial practices adopted on a project.
- Awareness of pre-contract planning and work winning.
